Melbourne – Hundreds of Sikh community members turned out this afternoon in Melbourne to participate in Sikh Genocide Remembrance March.
The Remembrance March, which was organized by Supreme Sikh Council of Australia, began at 2pm on Sunday 6th November at City Square, moving through streets of Melbourne city and culminating at Flagstaff gardens at 4 pm.
Bibi Parmjit Kaur Khalra, wife of Sikh Human Rights Activist Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra, was the key speaker of the event. Bibi Paramjit Kaur ji especially came from India to attend the remembrance march.
During her speech, Bibi Paramjit Kaur ji emphasized about the need to end Badal rule in Punjab.
This year, a key attraction of the event were two stage plays performance, highlighting the 1984 atrocities and the plight of Farmers and water in Punjab.
Besides speeches by various other personalities, Emotional poetry were delivered by Gurprabhjot Singh Dakha, Harpinder Singh Khushdil and Shubhkarmanjit Singh from Melbourne.
Following the rally, langar was served by Sikh sangat from Gurdwara Miri Piri, St Albans. Various other organisations and Gurughars in Victoria supported the event.
