As an alternate of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), old United Akali Dal, once headed by Baba Joginder Singh, was today revived its name as Sanyukt Akali Dal with the appointment of its convenor, general secretary and an adhoc committee.
Spokesperson of Damdami taksal, a Sikh educatinal institution, Bhai Mohkam Singh has been appointed as the convenor of new outfit whose 26 member ad-hoc committee was announced here today.
Gurdeep Singh has been appointed as General Secretary.
While announcing the formation of the Sanyukt Akali Dal in a meeting held at Guru Nanak Bhawan here, Mr Singh said that the motive behind the formation of new Akali Dal was to free the Sikh institution from the clutches of Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab.
