Jathedar Hawara gets clean chit in 13-year-old case of attempt to murder

Sarbat Khalsa-appointed parallel Jathedar of Akal Takht Jagtar Singh Hawara, lodged in a Delhi jail for assassinating former CM Beant Singh, was on Tuesday acquitted by a local court in a 13-year-old attempt to murder case.

He was produced in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Tarsem Mangla through video-conferencing.

A case was registered against him and three others at Badhni Kalan police station on February 18, 2005. Hawara had allegedly fired at Head Constable Jasvir Singh. He was acquitted as the prosecution failed to produce evidence against him.
