Major Fire breaks at Amritsar Railway Station Ticket Counter

A major fire broke out at the ticket reservation counter on the Gol Bagh side of Amritsar railway station on Thursday early morning, destroying the main server and causing extensive damage to other equipment.

No casualty was reported in the incident.

Confirming the incident, a railway official said that the main reason for the fire was sudden short circuit due to which fire flames engulfed the entire reservation section of the railway station within no time. The fire damaged all computers as well as the main server.

All the computers at eight window counters along with the main server were damaged.

The counter has been closed down for general public. A railway official told PTI the passengers would be able to make online bookings and get current tickets from another section of the station.
