Despite Sikh opposition, Honey Singh rips open live crowds in Toronto

Punjabi petitioners had pitched for a no-show for Yo Yo. But this rapper cannot be kept under wraps. Breaking free of moral frowning not once or twice but repeatedly and insistently, Honey Singh is unstoppable.

On Saturday night, he performed live in front of 15,000 cheering clamouring, screaming and dancing Punjabis at the Wonderland theme park in Ontario Canada on the occasion of Punjabi Virsa Day.
This was despite of a report that 1,100 Punjabis had signed a petition against Honey’s performance accusing his lyrics of teaching violence and objectifying women.
Honey Singh screamed from Ontario above the din of frenzied fans, “Arrey, it was just 10 people who wanted to spoil the fun. I have become used to self-appointed moralists trying to rain on my parade. But nothing can dampen my fans’ spirits. I’ve just finished the concert. There were thousands of my Punjabi brothers and sisters having a great time. If I was teaching violence and objectifying women, why do entire families come for my concerts and why do I have more female fans than men?”
Among Honey Singh’s female fans who attended the concert in Ontario on Saturday was politician Ruby Dhalla, the first Indian women in Canadian parliament.
