LUDHIANA —As per the will of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa who is sitting on hunger strike for permanent release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of India, a ‘Chardi Kalaa Panthik Conference’ is going to be held at his residence at village Hasanpur, Ludhiana, on May 10.
As per schedule, Sri Akhand Path Sahib of Guru Granth Sahib started on May 8th and Bhog ceremony will be held today on May 10 followed by the panthic conference. Sikh intellectuals, many leaders of Sikhs organizations and Sikh sangat is expected to participate in large numbers.
Sikh leaders have appealed the Sangat and human rights activists to attend the conference to energies the struggle initiated by Bapu Surat Singh to ensure permanent release of Sikh prisoners who are still behind bar though their prison terms are over.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has already crossed 110 days of hunger strike. A number of Sikh parchariks, including leaders and politicians have visited Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa in the recent days, giving a new boost to his struggle. Recently AAP member Jassi Jasraj, noted social activist Yogendra Yadav visited Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa to inquire about his health and get information on his struggle.
Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party MP from Sangrur promised to raise the issue of Sikh political prisoners in Lok Sabha.
