Bathinda, 7th July 2014 – A letter purportedly by terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba has threatened to blow up major railway stations, including Bathinda, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Sri Ganganagar, Jodhpur and Bikaner. and Hindu pilgrimages held in the state from July 9 to July 11.
The letter has been issued by a man introducing himself as LeT area commander Karim Ansari.
In view of the threat, Superintendent of Police (SP), narinder pal Singh said that the security in the Bathinda city has been increased and barricades have been erected in and around the city.
Bathinda Station House Officer said they have been frisking the commuters on a regular basis following receipt of the letter.
Several such threats have been received over the past few years, every time threatening to blow up the railway station and temples through a letter addressed to the station superintendent.
Earlier, the LeT had also written a letter to Station Superintendent of Pathankot, threatening to kill both Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
