Teenager hit by train near Keon Park Station while crossing tracks

A teenager has been killed by a train near Keon Park station on the South Morang line.

The accident happened just after 6am.

Police said teen appeared to have tripped and fallen while attempting to cross the tracks about 300 metres from Keon Park station.

He was struck by the city-bound train and died at the scene about 6.15am.

Police do not believe the death to be suspicious.

A spokesman for Metro said trains would not resume for several hours. All trains between South Morang and Keon Park stations will be replaced by buses.
