Suchi Saanjh theatrical play staged in Melbourne

MELBOURNE – Hundreds of spectators experienced a tale of emotions in the form of LIVE Punjabi theatrical play titled ‘Suchi Saanjh’ organised by Barkat in collaboration with Drum Theatre, Dandenong.

Directed by Rakesh Sharma, the Punjabi play is based on the short story “Rajai” (Quilt), written by Veena Verma. The script of the play is written by actor-playwright Hardip Gill.

The play has always been appreciated for its story. Hardip Gill’s wife Anita Devgan brought out the despair and struggle of an abandoned wife, whose husband leaves her for another woman to settle abroad. Karnail Singh gives shelter to her and her children in the need of hour. The story develops around human relations. It is about the emotional bond that lasts a lifetime and even beyond.

The climax of the play was gripping and applauded by the audience. The play was organised by The Barkat Team, headed by Hardip Gill and his wife Anita Devgan.

The play was also a chance to the newcomers who attended the theatre workshops with Anita Devgan and Hardip Gill to showcase their talent to Melbourne audiences.

The play will also be staged at other cities including Adelaide and Brisbane in Australia.
