SOPW HAS NOW BECOME A PART OF THE ‘SIKH RELIEF’ GROUP
Jalandhar, 13 Jul 2014 – Sikh Organisation for Prisoner Welfare (SOPW), officially re-launched itself to become part of Charity Group ‘Sikh Relief’ yesterday at Jalandhar Press Club.
Human rights lawyer Rajvinder Singh Bains and SOPW India team of RP Singh, Parminder Singh and Sarbpreet Singh, as well as Kulvinder Kaur and Satnam Singh ‘Sarkaria’ were all present at the launch on behalf of SIKH RELIEF.
Whereas SOPW focuses on the welfare of Sikh political prisoners and their families, Sikh Relief has a much larger scope and its overall focus will be the development of Punjab and enabling Punjabi people to prosper. The step taken to expand upon the work of SOPW and to re-brand the charity to SIKH RELIEF, was based on the demand of our supporters who, since last year, have encouraged the SOPW team to undertake more and more relief projects that were not linked to political prisoners.
SIKH RELIEF charity group is working on the projects including Prisoner Welfare (SOPW), Medical aid, Children Education, supporting the Environment, Care for the elderly and promoting and maintaining Sikh values/ideals.
Other who were invited to the lancuh meeting were some of those families currently being supported by SIKH RELIEF including Maandeep Singh, Sarbjit Kaur and Gurmukh Singh, Jasveer Singh Jassa and family, Manpreet Singh, Kulvinder Kaur and Baljit Kaur.
