Ludhiana: Tragedy struck former president of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Avtar Singh Makkar following death of his son Manvinder Singh Makkar.
Manvinder Pal Singh died of heart attack in DMC Hospital Ludhiana. He was 47 years old. He was Councillor of MC Ludhiana. Cremation will be held at Model Town Extension cremation ground at 12 noon on Friday.
He is survived by his wife Indu Makkar and two sons.

Manvinder canvassed for BJP’s Ludhiana West candidate Kamal Chatly all day yesterday.
Indu Makkar said Manvinder returned home around 9 pm and went to his room. “When I did not notice any activity in the room, I went to enquire. I was shocked to see him lying on the floor. I raised the alarm and informed other members of the family. We took him to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH),” she said.
Sources said doctors declared Manvinder brought dead. The doctors suspected the he died of heart attack.
Manvinder Singh Makkar was Municipal Councilor from ward No. 48. His cremation will be held at Model Town cremation ground on Friday. Manvinder Singh was also member of the Youth Akali Dal (YAD).
His sudden demise has shocked SAD leaders.
It may be recalled that the younger son of Jathedar Makkar, Tejinderpal Singh had expired some time back.
