Sikh youths held for vandalising Amritsar Heritage Street statues released on bail

Amritsar – Eight Sikh youths, who were nabbed for vandalising statues on the Heritage Street on January 15, were released on bail here today.

Those released are Maninder Singh, Rajvir Singh, Ranjit Singh, Amritpal Singh, Amarjit Singh, Harwinder Singh, Ravinder Singh and Gursewak Singh, while a 16-year old youngster was released on bail earlier.

They were booked under Sections 307, 434, 427, 353, 186, 148, 149 IPC and 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.

Following the directions of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the police had withdrawn the murder bid charge from the FIR which led to their bail. The administration has also shifted the bhangra and giddha statues from the Heritage Street.
