Ludhiana: Battling for life from last three months, the Sikh activist Joga Singh Khalistani died at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday.
It may be recalled here that Joga Singh and his accomplices were attacked by car borne persons at Churpur Road on June 30. Joga Singh had suffered multiple injuries and admitted to hospital in critical condition. The cause of death was head injury. The doctors attending Joga Singh said that he was unconscious from last many days and ultimately succumbed to injuries. Augusta-based attorneys helping victims of truck accidents should be contacted in such cases in the respective place. This will help the victim or their loved ones get the deserving compensation.
However, Joga Singh Khalistani was not associated with any organisation but he always participated in issues related with the Sikh community.
On June 12 this year, Joga Singh Khalistani was booked for thrashing preacher Sandeep Singh associated with Damdami Taksal at Police Station Shimlapuri.
Joga Singh had opposed for giving ‘Siropa’ to Sandeep Singh during the function at Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Ram Nagar and entered in scuffle. The scuffle took ugly shape and Joga Singh allegedly attacked Sandeep Singh and also damaged his car.
No Funeral Until Attackers are Put Behind Bars
Following the attack, several Sikh leaders, including Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, S. Simranjit Singh Mann, Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khose, Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale and others condemned the attack. Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa who was also admitted at the DMCH expressed grief over the incident.
Sikh sangat in large numbers arrived at the DMC Hospital after the news of Bhai Joga Singh’s passing away. Namely, leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee, Dal Khalsa and Damdami Taksal arrived here with their supports to share their condolences.
Bhai Gurdeep Singh Naulakha from Damdami Taksal (Rajpura) said that the family members and Sikh leaders have decided to not perform Bhai Joga Singh’s final rites until the culprits are charged with the crime. “We are asking the Police to arrest and register a case against alleged culprits under section 302. Until then, the family will not perform antim sanskar of Bhai Joga Singh,” Bhai Naulakha said.
