PATNA Sahib – In a huge blow to Paramjit Singh Sarna-led SAD (Delhi), SAD (Badal) wrested the control of Takht Patna Sahib Management Board on Friday.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar has been elected as the board president. Makkar was elected with majority votes 0f 13 members from 15 members of the board.
Two members, namely Jaspal Singh and Harvinder Singh Sarna did not attend the meeting to elect the new office-bearers.
Besides Makkar, the other office bearers elected include Salinder Jeet Singh – Senior Vice President, Kamaljit Kaur – vice president, Sarjinder Singh – General Secretary and Mohinder Singh Chhabra – Secretary.
Both Akali groups will also have a faceoff in the executive committee elections of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) next week.
The only Takht which is now not under the control of SGPC or the Akali Dal is Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazoor Saheb Nanded.
Sri Akal Takht Sahib at Amritsar, Takht Keshgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib and Takht Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo were already controlled and governed by SGPC.
