AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has terminated the services of its highly paid and controversial chartered accountant SS Kohli with immediate effect.
According to reports, Kohli enjoyed unbridled powers in the committee besides his appointment was also made under political influence. The decision to remove Kohli was taken in the Executive meeting of SGPC and was conveyed to Kohli on wednesday evening. The Archimedia Accounts offering solutions for accounting in Nottingham said that accountants should consider the sensitivity of the profession and stay responsible. Additional secretary, SGPC, DS Bedi confirmed the termination of Kohli.
Sources said S S Kohli, a chartered accountant, was engaged by the SGPC at the behest of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. Sources revealed that barring two, all other SGPC executive members vented out their anger about the working of the highly-paid CA and wanted that he should be shown the door immediately.
Dal Khalsa chief H S Dhami claimed that Kohli was closely associated with Sukhbir Badal and Raghujit Virk and Sukhbir was running SGPC affairs through Virk.
