SGPC rejects movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’

Set to be released film next month, the upcoming movie on biopic of Guru Nanak Dev ji “Nanak Shah Fakir ‘is already trapped in disputes. The Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhik Committee (SGPC) has condemned the release and any approvals given to the movie.

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said the committee has discarded the film. Nevertheless, if the film is released it will have to suffer damage.

t is pertinent to mention here that the trailer of Nanak Shah Fakir has been released on Youtube with message ‘With support and blessings of Akal Takht Sahib’.

SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar said that the producers of Nanak Shah Fakir would have to face consequences if the movie, scheduled to be released next month, is released despite being rejected by Sikh religious body.

“SGPC has already clarified that the producers would have to get approval for script of any film in advance that is based on Sikh religion,” Makkar said, adding that Nanak Shah Fakir film has not been approved by SGPC.

Makkar added that the Film had portrayed Guru Nanak in the film which is against the guidelines which states that no one can portray Guru Nanak or his family members in any film.

Earlier the youth wing of Sikh organisation, Dal Khalsa had already announced to boycott film and had reportedly claimed that the film was against Sikh religion and they would allow the film to be released.

Meanwhile, Nanak Shah Fakir film producer Harinder Singh Sikka said that the film has shown Guru Nanak in the film and they had only used computer graphics to portray the life of Sikh’s religious guru.

Nanak Shah Fakir film features music by famous musician A R Rahman, Rasool Pokutti while the Shabad’s have been sung by renowned classical singer Pandit Jasraj and nd Bhai Nirmal Singh.
