Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been booked by Ludhiana Police for hurting religious sentiments of followers of Dera Sacha Sauda based in Sirsa, Haryana.
The police have registered a case against Varma on a complaint of Jasbir Singh, a resident of Lohara. Jasbir has alleged that Ram Gopal Varma tweeted on “Messenger of God” in which Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh, chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, is playing the lead role. He alleged that Varma used indecent language about the dera chief. “The comments of Ram Gopal Varma are abusive and offensive,” alleged Jasbir.
Jatinder Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Daba, said: “There is a local unit of followers of Dera Sacha Sauda. They lodged a complaint against Ram Gopal Varma yesterday. We have registered a case against him under section 298 of the IPC and 66 of the IT Act”.
“We have initiated investigation into the case. Further action in the case will be taken after verifying evidences,” the Station House Officer said.
