FALMOUTH, Sep 6 2014 – Indian national Jaswinder Singh, 46, died Thursday night after he was found bleeding outside a Shore Street restaurant and apartment property, according to O’Keefe.
Jaswinder Singh arrived in Massachusetts from New York in the middle of August, and was on a work visa with the owner of the Golden Swan Indian Cuisine Restaurant at 323 Main St., and living in an apartment on the property.
“The victim died from blood loss associated with a cutting wound caused by sharp force trauma,” O’Keefe stated Friday in a prepared statement.
Two men living in the same apartment with the deceased man were arrested Friday and charged with intentionally misleading a police investigation
Salwinder Singh, 60, and Karamjit Singh, 24, both of 323 Main St., Apt. 1, were being held without bail pending their Monday arraignments in Falmouth District Court. Both men arrested were affiliated with the restaurant, O’Keefe said.
O’Keefe said on Saturday that a third man is also being charged with intentionally misleading police, but would not identify him or provide details of his arrest. He will also be arraigned Monday.
Jaswinder Singh was from Loharan Village in Punjab State of India, O’Keefe said Saturday. The man is reported to have come to the U.S. many months ago and worked in Milwaukee and New York, O’Keefe said.
A third man has been charged with misleading police in their investigation into the death of a man behind an Indian restaurant on Thursday, according to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe.
Police were called around 9 p.m. Thursday to the area of Shore Street, off Main Street, for a report of an injured person. Rescuers found the man lying on the ground outside the back exit of the restaurant, according to the Falmouth fire department.
Rescuers called for a MedFlight helicopter and took the man to Falmouth Hospital, after which the helicopter was canceled.
The Golden Swan restaurant remained closed on Saturday. Falmouth Police would not provide information on the investigation Saturday night and referred all questions to the district attorney.
O’Keefe said on Saturday that he and investigators plan to speak further with the state medical examiner following an autopsy of the deceased man’s body on Friday. Investigators are continuing to look into the type of weapon used in the death and the type of wound.
Police are planning to serve search warrants related to the case.
