As the date of release of controversial movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ is nearing its release, the protests against its release are also spreading and becoming more intense.
The members of Jatha Neeliyan Faujan staged a demonstration against Nanak Shah Fakir at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on April 14, 2015. Sikh activists hold placards as they protest the film ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ for allegedly offending Sikh religious sentiments.
On the other hand, in response to the petition lodged with High Court against the release of movie, the court has refused to grant stay on ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ film and the next hearing is now on 23 April.
In Australia, there was a protest staged in front of Village Cinemas by Sikh Members and as a result, the movie screening has now been delayed by Cinema Management for atleast one week.
Alleging that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has not yet cautioned the producer of ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ for alleged human-form depiction of Guru Nanak in the film, Dal Khalsa today has also written to Indian President saying the movie has potential to enrage the community.
Meanwhile, about a hundred students of Guru Nanak Dev University led by Paramjit Singh Mand and Amrinder Singh also staged a protest on 14th April against the film demanding complete ban on it.
Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College in Punjab students also took it to roads to stage demonstration seeking ban on the release of the movie.
