The Union Home Ministry had taken notice of issue raised by Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann over allegations of fake encounters levelled by former police “cat” Gurmeet Pinky in the Lok Sabha.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju reportedly took details and promised action after Mann sought setting up of a national judicial commission to probe the alleged killings.
Speaking to Media, Mann said the killings were as barbaric as the ones committed by one community against another in South Africa. “I have sought setting up of a national judicial commission for probing the claims of Pinky.”
AAP is taking on both Congress and Akali Dal on the issue. Party affairs in charge Sanjay Singh had yesterday sought an inquiry into the role of state Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, as they “shielded the guilty police officers all these years”.
Mann said though for decades there were reports that thousands of persons were killed in such fake encounters, the Union Government can make a beginning by probing at least 50 cases referred by Pinky.
