Amritsar – Even as the November 10 Sarbat Khalsa-appointed Akal Takht “Jathedar” Dhian Singh Mand was detained ahead of Operation Bluestar anniversary, he was represented by United Akali Dal chief Mohkam Singh who managed to read the “parallel” address at Akal Takht today.
Bhai Mohkam Singh and other supporters, including Wasan Singh Jaffarwal, Satnam Singh Manawa and Paramjit Singh Jijehani had gone underground to prevent their arrest. They appeared at Akal Takht today in a dramatic manner.
Bhai Mohkam Singh read out the sandesh, reportedly prepared by Sarbat Khalsa Jathedar Bhai Mand, after the customary address of SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh.
He appealed to the Khalsa Panth to rid Akal Takht and the Golden Temple of the reigns of incumbent Jathedars and the SGPC, curb the transport, cable, land and sand mafias and work for a drug-free Punjab.
Earlier, Bhai Mand had created uproar after delivering a “parallel” address at Akal Takht during the Bandi Chhor Divas (Diwali). He was later arrested. His move was opposed by the Takht heads and the SGPC.
