Chandigarh – In a letter to Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, and the Chief Minister, Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has requested that the title of “Panth Rattan Fakhar-e-Quam” be bestowed upon former PM Manmohan Singh during the 350th anniversary celebrations of Anandpur Sahib.
The Congress leader has urged Badal to invite Manmohan Singh as a chief guest at the function because of his contribution to the country.
“Not only he was the first Sikh to become the Prime Minister, but he also brought glory to Community as he was the person whom successive US Presidents George W Bush and Barrack Obama, consulted to tide over the economic recession. Despite remaining at top position and leading India by bringing reforms, his honestly, humility is beyond any doubt. Thus he deserves this title”, Randhawa wrote to Jathedar, Sri Akal Takht.
“No one will be able to match what Dr Manmohan Singh has done for Punjab,” said Randhawa.
He said that the former PM brought glory to the Sikh community by his outstanding achievements in different arena at the national and international levels.
