KhalistanLiberation Force (KLF) Chief, Bhai Harminder Singh Mintu, who escaped from high security Nabha jail in Punjab yesterday, has been arrested near Delhi on Monday. Five other escaped convicts remain missing.

Mintoo and the others made their escape when a group of armed men in police uniforms stormed Punjab’s Nabha Central Jail early on Sunday.

49-year-old Bhai Harminder Singh Mintoo, was arrested from Delhi’s IGI airport in November 2014. The state police said he was trying to revive the KLF and had had close contact with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence officers.

His beard and moustache were trimmed to make him appear substantially different when he was tracked down at the parking lot of the Nizamuddin Railway station, from where he was planning to travel to Mumbai.

After the jailbreak, the opposition Congress accused Punjab’s Parkash Singh Badal government of “complicity” and said it triggered fears of revival of terrorism in the state ahead of the elections in the state next year.

According to a report, the Mohali police have arrested Neeta Deol, one of the four gangsters.
