Melbourne, 21 May – MONASH Freeway has been shut in both directions this morning over fears of a bomb on a truck. It follows a police chase on the freeway after 4am. Peak hour traffic chaos is expected for hour

A 35-year-old Caulfield South man has been arrested amid a major police incident on Melbourne’s Monash Freeway this morning.

The Bomb Response Unit was called to the scene near Toorak Rd at Glen Iris after police are believed to have targeted a prime mover on the freeway at 4:00am (AEST).

Police say the scene has now been declared safe and the road could re-open within the next hour.

The freeway had been closed between Kooyong Road and Burke Road, and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
