New Delhi – The newly formed Jag Aasra Guru Ott (JAGO) party led by Manjit Singh GK on Wednesday announced its support to the BJP in the forthcoming Assembly election in Delhi.
The election is scheduled for February 8.
GK, former president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, left the Shiromani Akali Dal to form his own outfit.
GK said the JAGO party aimed at only religious issues and remained away from politics, but the issues of the community had to be sorted.
He said the BJP had asked him to support it, adding that he had met BJP president JP Nadda and sought resolution of the pending Sikh issues. The party had asked for the second-language status for Punjabi in Delhi, he added.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), which had decided not to contest the Delhi assembly polls over differences with the saffron party, has decided to support the BJP for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
