Barabanki- A case was lodged against Nestle India in a local court here today over safety standards of its product – Maggi. Besides, a case has also been registered against actors Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta for promoting the “two-minute” noodles brand.
The first case was filed against Nestle India and the actors for endorsing and promoting the noodles through ads.The case was filed by local advocate and former BJP district president Santosh Singh under Sections 272, 273, 419 and 420 of the IPC. These sections invite punishment ranging from six months to seven years.
Another case was filed by the Barabanki’s Department of Food Safety officer Sanjay Singh in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Veer Bhadra against Nestle India and six others.
Santosh Singh said these film stars have earned hefty sums by terming Maggi noodles as healthy in advertisements and alleged “this wrong publicity amounts to malafide intentions and playing with the health of the kids and young people of the country”.
