Renowned Punjabi singer Sardool Sikander is no more. The 60-year-old singer was undergoing treatment for coronavirus and breathed his last on Wednesday.

Sikander was recently diagnosed with COVID-19 and was undergoing treatment for various issues including kidney damage, uncontrolled sugar, and multi-organism failure.

Best known for his Punjabi songs like Ek Charkha Gali De Wich Dha Laya, Saanu Tol Na, among others, Sikander was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday where he breathed his last. He had undergone a kidney transplant a few years ago.

Born on 15 January 1961, Sikander was associated with Punjabi-language folk and pop music. He began his professional career in music via radio and television in the early 1980s with his introductory album, Roadways Di Laari. Besides singing, he had also acted in a few regional films.

The senior singer is survived by his wife Amar Noorie, who is also an accomplished singer and actress and two sons named Sarang Sikander and Alaap Sikander.
