Amritsar, Punjab (June 15, 2014): Jathedars of five Takhats of Sikhism in which the jathedar of takht Keshgarh Sahib, Giani Mal Singh, jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib, Giani Balwant Singh Nanadgarh besides Harmandir Sahib head ‘granthi; (priest) Giani Jagtar Singh and Giani Sukhjinder Singh were present, was held at Shri Akal Takhat on June 15, 2014. The Sikh high priests today held a meeting in Amritsar and the clash was one of the issues on their agenda.
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh today said Simranjit Singh Mann, SAD-Amritsar president, and other radical groups were never given any clean chit for their alleged involvement in the violent clash on at the Golden Temple June 6.
The Jathedar said it was against the ‘maryada’ (religious ethics) to allow any political leader to make an address from the Akal Takht. “No politician can use the highest temporal seat as a dais to instigate or gain any vested mileage,” he said.
On the other hand, SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar held Akali Dal (Amritsar) chief Simranjeet Singh Mann responsible for the violence. On the other hand, Mann has claimed innocence and rejected the inquiry panel formed by the SGPC on the direction of the Akal Takht Jathedar.
