Incomplete flyover leads to death of five young men in road accident in Amritsar

AMRITSAR (5 May 2014): In a fatal road accident five young man killed. Accident occurred at newly build flyover at Kitchlu chownk.

Confirming the accident Police said, accident occurred today during wee hours. The car was at high speed at the time of accident. The spot of accident was tail end of the flyover infront of the main entrance of District Court complex entrance.

Police said that cause of accident was high speed, since driver of the car lost his control over the steering wheel while negotiating at sharp curve at the tail end of newly build flyover.

Among five killed, three were identified as Sandeep Kumar (35), Gourav (30) Prince (28) and rest two were yet to be disclosed by administration, said police.

Eye witness Manjit Singh said that after accident car was seen rolling in the air before it fell down on ground. Bodies were extracted from the badly mingled car after with the help of group of people. All occupants were found dead, immediate after the accident, added Manjit SIngh. Police said bodies have been sent for autopsy at Government Medical College and thereafter bodies to be handed over to the family members for last rites.

Family members of dead, while interacting with the media on the spot blamed district administration to throw open incomplete flyover. There were lot of technical snags yet to be removed, but administration in a hush hush manner thrown open the flyover in order to get political mileage during the Parliament Elections, said Sunil Kumar brother of Gourav who lost life during accident.
