Amritsar – SGPC is planning to appoint Giani Jagtar Singh (Head Granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib) as its new Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Giani Jagtar Singh will replace Giani Gurbachan Singh (who was removed by Sarbat Khalsa on 10th November) as Jathedar.
Giani Jagtar Singh hails from Ludhiana and has good relations with SGPC President Avtar Makkar. He was appointed as the Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib with recommendation of Makkar. He is also considered right hand of SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar.
SGPC want to replace Jathedars of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib who are already removed by Sarbat Khalsa. Jathedars appointed by SGPC and removed by Sarbat Khalsa facing criticism of Sikh Sangat due pardon to Gurmeet Ram Rahim in blasphemy charges. The Jathedars whoa are removed by Sarbat Khalsa lost their credibility among Sikh community. Since then, they have been facing sharp opposition from the Sikh devotees in every public appearance at religious functions.
It is also to be reminded to readers that Giani Jagtar Singh is the same person, who had offered Siropa to Modi during his visit to Harmandir Sahib. When he was rounded up by Sangat over this issue, he had said that even if Massa Rangar comes to Harmandir Sahib, he would have done the same to him as well.
