Amritpal Singh, who was prisoned last year, has made a remarkable political comeback by winning a landslide victory in the Khadoor Sahib constituency.

His journey from jail to the Lok Sabha has captured national attention, reflecting a significant shift in voter sentiment and the impact of his grassroots campaign.

Amritpal Singh, currently imprisoned in Dibrugarh, Assam, contested as an independent candidate. He was up against Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira and SAD candidate Virsa Singh Valtoha. Amripal Singh secured 3,68,560 votes as opposed to the Congress’s Kulbir Singh Zira’s 1,96,279 votes.

The Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, located in Punjab, is one of the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Established after delimitation in 2008, it is part of the TarnTaran district and comprises nine assembly seats.

Amritpal’s victory underscores his strong support base and resilience, marking a pivotal moment in his political career.
