Former MLA Talwandi’s only son died in road accident

talwandi-anmol-car-crashChandigarh – Former SAD MLA Ranjit Singh Talwandi’s son Jagateshwar Singh along with his friend was killed in a car accident near Pinjore in Panchkula area of Haryana on Thursday morning.

As per reports, the car accident took place in the morning today when Jagateshwar Singh (23) was returning to Chandigarh after visiting his friend Prabhsimran alias Anmol’s relative house.

Initial investigations suggests that the car was being driven at high speed when the driver lost control over the vehicle after which it collided with divider near Chandi Mandir area,” police officials said, adding that both of them suffered serious injuries in the car accident.

jagteshwar-talwandi-car-accidentPolice officials said that while Anmol died on the spot while Jagateshwar Singh died while he was being taken to PGI Chandigarh for further medical treatment. “Singh was declared brought dead by doctors upon his arrival at PGI Chandigarh,” police said.

Meanwhile, in the postmortem conducted it was found that Anmol died of shock as he had minor injuries and Jagteshwar died of critical injuries on the head and multiple injuries on legs and abdomen. “Anmol had very less injuries but he died of shock and cardiac arrest. Jagteshwar had serious injuries and both his legs were fractured,” said Dr Sunil Gambhir, who conducted the postmortem.

According to the police, the car belonged to Anmol and he was driving it while Jagteshwar was sitting beside him.

The incident took place between 4.45 am and 5.15 am. The police said the driver might have dozed off, resulting in the mishap. They said the car skidded towards a muddy patch on the left side of the highway. When the driver tried to bring the car back on the road, it hit a pole on the left side of the road and then a 4.5-foot-long cement block.

The impact of the hit was so huge that a headlight fell 25 ft away and the airbags of the car opened. Though the speedometer needle showed 50 km per hour, the police suspect that the car was being driven at a high speed. “While trying to get back from the muddy patch towards the main road, the driver lost control over the vehicle and its left side hit a pole and then a cement block.

The local police got information about the accident from the hospital around 7 am,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector Resham Singh, the investigating officer.

Jagteshwar, who was injured, could not locate his mobile phone and gave the phone number of one of his family members to Army men, who were passing by, and requested them to inform his family immediately.

Both of them were students of DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh. While Jagteshwar, who was pursuing a law course from the college, was a resident of Sector 39, Chandigarh, Anmol, an MA final-year student, was a resident of Sector 33, Chandigarh, said their relatives.

Anmol, his mother’s only support

World came crashing down for Anmol’s mother who first lost her husband and then her only son. She is left with no one now. Initially, the relatives didn’t inform her about his death. It was in the afternoon that they told her that Anmol had died in an accident.

Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal condoled the death of Talwandi’s son and he visiting the senior leader’s house after hearing the sad news about the passing away of Jagteshwar Singh in prime of youth.

Badal expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty to give strength to them for bearing this huge loss and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

The cremation of Jagteshwar Singh Talwandi has been re-scheduled. He would now be cremated on Friday, March 13 at village Talwandi Rai, the native village of Talwandis in Raikot, district Ludhiana.

Earlier it was decided that he would be cremated on Thursday itself at 4.00 pm.  Family sources said that the delay in getting the body after the post-mortem has been the factor behind the re-scheduling of cremation.
