A Sikh auto-rickshaw driver and his son were brutally beaten up by Delhi Police outside Mukherjee Nagar police station on Sunday.
The auto driver was seen being beaten with a stick and was kicked in the face.
A five-minute video of the incident shows tempo driver Sarabjeet Singh being brutally beaten up by police cops with sticks and drag him across the road.
As soon as Sarabjeet Singh’s son, who was driving the auto pleaded the police not to beat his father, the cops started beating him at gunpoint as well.
It is alleged that the policemen dragged the driver and his son, belonging to the Sikh community, out of their auto and thrashed them for “no reason”.
The video gained attention to such an extent that immediately Sikhs in massive numbers came to protest against the policemen’s behaviour.
Several onlookers caught the incident on tape and the videos immediately went viral. Sikhs in massive numbers immediately came onto the streets to protest against the police brutality.
A protest was organised after the alleged incident in Mukherjee Nagar and GT Ring Road was blocked to protest against Delhi Police Former Delhi Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK compared the police action with the 1984 Sikh riots and demanded strict action against the errant cops.
BJP-SAD MLA & DSGMC President Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who rushed to Mukherjee Nagar station, told media: “We have got three police officials suspended for their inhumane behaviour. Rest of them will also meet the same fate. Thanking all who came to protest with us.”

AAP Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh also reached the station.
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh tweeted about the ‘shameful’ incident. He wrote: “Shameful incident of @DelhiPolice ruthlessly beating up Sarabjeet Singh & Balwant Singh over a petty issue. Request HM @AmitShah to ensure justice”.
