Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Punjab police on a bail petition filed by Sant Samaj leader and a member of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC, ad hoc), Baljit Singh Daduwal.
Daduwal had moved the high court seeking bail, claiming to be victim of political vendetta. The bail plea will come up for hearing on October 7.
Daduwal was arrested on August 24 by the Punjab police in connection with an FIR registered against him in Faridkot on March 16, 2009, on the charges of attempt of murder and under various sections of the Arms Act.
Daduwal said he had been arrested in an old case owing to political vendetta over the formation of the HSGMC. He alleged that the Punjab government had re-opened the case to settle a score over the peaceful takeover of Gurdwara Chhevin and Navi Patshahi at Guhla Cheeka (Kaithal).
