Canada based Pro-Khalistan Activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar shot dead

Pro-Khalistan activist and President of Surrey Guru Nanak Gurdwara (BC, Canada), Bhai Hardeep Singh Nijjar has been shot dead by unknown youth assailants.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a resident of Bharsinghpur village in the Punjabi city of Jalandhar, was shot to death inside a car on Sunday at around 8.30 p.m. (local time) in Surrey, where he served as the head of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara.

When his body was being moved from the scene by the Canadian police, Sikhs started gathering in large numbers and raised pro-Khalistan and anti-India slogans, according to the officials.

As per initial reports two unidentified gunmen opened fire on Hardeep Singh Nijjar when he was coming out of the Gurdwara Sahib complex in his vehicle. Hardeep Singh Nijjar died in this shoot out.

The police are investigating the fatal shooting.

Surrey RCMP issued a statement confirming its officers were on the scene at the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara on 120 Street.
