Amritsar – Ex-Hazuri Raagi Sri Darbar Sahib, Bhai Baldev Singh Ji Vadala has been arrested by Amritsar Police in early hours 3am from his house. Bhai Vadala was going for Darshan at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji, but was later released in the afternoon.
Bhai Vadala came to notice for opposing the appointment of SGPC chief secretary Harcharan Singh on a hefty package by the SGPC.
Bhai Vadala had given a call for a march towards Akal Takht from Mohi village of Ludhiana to get the gurdwaras “freed from the governance of existing authorities.”
As per information, Wadala was taken into custody at around 3 am from his house in Wadala Bhittewad village. It was learnt that he was arrested when he stepped out of his house to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple.
Officials from the Rajasansi police station took Bhai Vadala into custody, but later released him following a protest by residents outside the police station.
Bhai Vadala is one of best known Guru Kirtnia in the Sikh community. He has recited the Gurbani at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar for almost 15 years.
When he observed some irregularities and corruption among the leaders who manage the Shiromni Gurdwara Perbandhak Committee (SGPC), he pointed it out to the rest of the management. After no action was taken, he protested and brought it out through the media. As a result, he was released from his duties of Hazoori Ragi at Hariminder Sahib and transferred to Gurdwara Sahib in Jind, Haryana. According to some reports, he and his team members were not paid their wages for six months.
Bhai Vadala had formed Sikh Sadbhawna Dal for “improvement in the administration of the gurdwaras.”
