Bapu Surat Singh refuses treatment, supporters fortify his village

Ludhiana – Tension prevailed in Hassanpur village near here after Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, who has been on fast for 170 days seeking the release of Sikh detainees, refused to take treatment.

The “sangharsh” committee formed by Khalsa’s supporters has given a call for Ludhiana bandh tomorrow. Sarvinder Kaur, Khalsa’s daughter, said her father was unwell since yesterday following which police and administration officials visited their house along with a medical team for taking him to hospital. However, my father’s supporters did not let the officials to meet him.

She told media that Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal and SSP Jagraon Ravcharan Brar today met my father. But he denied taking treatment.

Later, huge police force was deployed in the village. A large number of youngsters started arriving in the village. The situation had turned tense in the afternoon, but no untoward incident was reported.

The administration has issued a communique where they had blamed villagers for not allowing the medical team to conduct Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s check-up.
