HUNDREDS of Sikhs from all over the country rallied in front of Indian High Commission in Canberra to protest against the illegal detention of Sikh prisoners in Indian jails and to support the movement of Bapu Surat Singh.
The protesters came from other capital cities including Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
In the protest in front of the Indian High Commission, the crowd of about 200 waved flags and signs, chanted and spoke out in anger against the Indian government.
The rally was organized to support Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, who has been on a hunger strike in India since January 16 to demand the release of Sikh political prisoners who continue to be detained after completing sentences.
Australian Sikh community has also called off for a complete boycott of Akali Dal Badal party.
