Amritpal Singh courted arrest today on April 22, 2023 at Rode Village in Moga.

Amritpal Singh came to the Rodewal Gurudwara on Saturday night. He himself informed the police about his presence and that he will surrender this morning at 7 am,” claimed Giani Jasbir Singh Rode of Rodewal Gurudwara in Moga, while speaking to ANI over phone.

Before doing so, Amritpal Singh gave an address at the Gurdwara in the village of Rode, the birthplace of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and where he had his Dastarbandi for Waris Punjab De. An English translation of that address, from Punjabi, is provided below. As always, some things and meanings will be lost in translation.

Respect Sadh Sangat jio,

We are sitting in the sacred presence of Satguru ji, let us join together in the Guru’s given Fateh, “Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ke Fateh!”

Today at this holy place, the birthplace of Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, the same place where I had my Dastaarbandi and we started this work for the Kaum. From this same place, as the work for the Kaum continues, we are at a very important juncture in life.

For the past month, whatever has happened, you have seen it all, and I will not repeat all of it. I will conclude my remarks in brief and in a short time.

Over the past month, the atrocities the state has heaped on the Sikhs, it is all very clear. If it was about my arrest, there were many ways to arrest me, and I would have cooperated. But the face of the state, which needed to be exposed in front of the world, has now happened with the atrocities heaped on Sikh youth.

In Satguru Sache Patshah’s court, I am not guilty. In the worldly courts, I may be held guilty. So after one month, I have decided that I have struggled on this land, and I will continue to struggle on this land, and I will not leave it to escape anywhere. All these false cases that have been put against me – I will face them in Court.

I would like to thank the Sangat. Without the Sangat’s Ardaas it would not have been possible to escape the cordons that were laid, nor would it be possible without the Sangat’s Ardaas to remain hidden for this long. This all happened because of the Sangat’s Ardaas and Guru’s grace.

Today from this same place, I have decided to court arrest myself.

This arrest is not an end. It is a beginning.

May Satguru Sache Patshah give his blessings. The bundle of lies that have been created against us, Satguru jee will smash it. Soon I will come back to the Sangat and interact with them.

The Amrit Sinchaar movement, the Khalsa Vaheer that was started – Guru Sahib inspired us to start it – we will resume it.

But I have an appeal for the youth – the government became frustrated with the way we were taking Amrit and leaving drugs and did all of this. The state will only win if we run away from Amrit. We need to reply in such a way so that as many young people take Amrit as possible, abandon drugs, attach themselves to the Guru and struggle for Punjab’s rights. Then, the state cannot defeat us.

So it is my request to the youth that in my absence, do not think that you should not take Amrit. Amrit is the Guru’s. Thousands like me will come and go. You need to take Amrit, become Amritdhari and Shastardhari and live your life in that way.

So with that, I thank the entire Sangat. The amount of love I received from the Sangat from here and abroad – I thank all of you. May Satguru bless us – please keep doing Ardaas…

As per news, Amritpal Singh will soon be flown to Dibrugarh jail in Assam, where other 9 Singhs

The key reason given by the police for shifting Amritpal and his aides to Assam instead of housing them in Punjab or Delhi jails is the presence of other gangsters familiar to the WPD group.

Also, the authorities consider the Dibrugarh Jail, built in 1859-60, the most secure prison in the state. It is the oldest jail in the northeast and was used to keep many top leaders of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (Ulfa-I).

A total of nine aides, including Amritpal’s Mama ji, Papalpreet Singh, Daljit Singh Kalsi, Bhagwant Singh alias Bajeke, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwal, Basant Singh Daulatpura, Harjit Singh, Varinder Singh alias Fauji, Varinder Singh and Gurinder Pal Singh are lodged in the Assam’s central jail.
