AAP Suspends Jassi Jasraj for Anti-Party Activities

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suspended party member Jassi Jasraj for alleged anti-party activities on Friday. The musician-actor turned politician was a party member for close to six years.

The move came after Jassi uploaded a video on youtube accusing Aam Admi Party (AAP) leadership of including people having links with Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP), Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress instead of promoting local volunteers.

“He had opposed the idea of bringing Manpreet Badal, who he had fought Lok Sabha elections in 2014. Jasraj had posted a YouTube video criticising the party’s decision. That video was viewed by more than one lakh people.

Not so long ago, a report in Hindustan Times had quoted Jasraj as saying that Punjabis staying abroad will be home in large numbers before the 2017 elections “to support the AAP and ensure that Punjab doesn’t lose”.

He had claimed that the NRI support to his party was increasing.

The Punjabi singer, also known as Karan Jasbir and Jasbir Singh Longia, had on 2 April asked voters to resist the allurement of money, liquor, and drugs.

He was AAP candidate from Bathinda seat in 2014 Lok Sabha elections but had lost.

Punjab goes to elections in 2017 as the current BJP-SAD government faces anti- incumbency and the AAP are seen as pre-poll favourites in the surveys.
