A-19-year-old Punjabi student hailing from Moga district was killed in a road mishap in Australia on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Kamalpreet Singh of Durkot Ranshian village under Nihal Singh wala subdivision, 44 kms from district headquarters.
Kamalpreet had been studying at a college in Perth for the last one-and-a-half year.
According to family members, Kamalpreet was on the way for his part time job by a mini truck. “Suddenly the driver of the vehicle lost control and the truck turned over outside the Perth city. Kamalpreet Singh was seriously injured and was rushed to the local hospital, but doctors declared him dead,” said Avtar Singh former sarpanch of Dhurkot Ranshian.
Jalaur Singh, father of the deceased said, “When my son had completed IELTS (International English Language Testing System) successfully and took flight for Australia on study basis visa we thought that our all problems will now come to an end as my hardworking son will emerge successful in Australia. But fate had something else in store for my family.”
“We would try to bring back Kamalpreet Singh’s body in India as soon as possible and we would also approach to the Punjab government to help us out in this,” he added.
Major Crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the vehicle prior to the crash.
