Vodafone store in Canberra evacuated after iPad Air explodes

A VODAFONE store in Canberra was evacuated on Wednesday after a brand new iPad Retina exploded.

“A burst of flames” appeared from the charging port of a brand new iPad Retina demo model, a Vodafone spokesperson confirmed to news.com.au.

The firebrigade was called in after the store filled with smoke and sparks continued to appear from the charging port.

No staff members or customers were injured during the incident, Vodafone confirmed.

News.com.au understands an Apple representative visited the store on Wednesday to collect the device for testing to find out what caused the incident however Apple has refused to respond for comments.
