Victorians can now look forward to large family gatherings in their homes on Christmas Day with 30 visitors allowed at homes from 11.59pm on Sunday, December 13.
“That’s 30 across the course of a day, that’s not 30 for lunch or 30 for dinner,” Premier Daniel Andrews announced on Sunday.
“That is a big step forward and I don’t know that we could two, or three or four months ago ever have really been that confident that we would get to that number”.
The Victorian premier today gave more freedom to Victorians after he announced the further easing of restrictions before reaching ‘COVID normal’.
From 11.59pm tonight 15 visitors are allowed in a home, including dependents, in your home each day and outdoor gatherings have been increased to 50 people.
Mr Andrews also announced from Monday November 30 a “slow, steady and safe return to work for those who have been working from home,” adding 25 per cent of staff will be able to work within the office.
“75 per cent will still need to work from home,” he said.
Masks will also no longer be necessary outdoors from Monday, as long as people keep a safe distance from each other however masks will still have to be used in all indoor settings.
Victoria marked its 23rd day without a new coronavirus case or death as Premier Andrews praised Victorians.
