Under Depression, Britannica COO Commits Suicide

Britannica Chief Operating Officer(COO) Vineet Whig reportedly killed himself by jumping from the 19th floor of a building in Gurgaon. The senior executive of the encyclopedia was found dead by the cleaning staff today, in the shaft of the building he used to stay . Vineet reportedly jumped from the 19th floor of the building into the tunnel which was used for ventilation in the building.

He was living in Block D DLF Belvedere Park Society along with his father, wife, two sons and a daughter.

Police has found a suicide note in his pocket.

According to the police sources, he took his life due to depression.

“I am taking my own life, no one is responsible. I am unable to cope. I am sorry. I am depressed. I see no way out except for suicide. yes, I am a coward. I should have faced life,” he wrote in the suicide note.

Gurgaon ACP Hawa Singh said that one of the security guard in the building had spotted him on Saturday going to the C block of the society where he committed suicide. “He probably was contemplating suicide since a day ago,” ACP added.

Whig who was earlier working with IT company Wipro, is a passionate photographer. Some of his works have found space even in National Geographic traveller.

Meanwhile, Whig’s father has been hospitalized suffering from heart attack and blood pressure after he knew the death news of his son.

Mr Whig had earlier worked with IT giant Wipro. His father has been hospitalized with high blood pressure after hearing of the suicide.

Mr Whig is survived by his wife and three children. In a statement, they said, “It is an irreplaceable loss for the entire family. He was a sensitive, humble and down to earth person, always willing to extend a helping hand.”
