In a First, two Sikh Candidates have won the Council Elections in South Australia.
The two winner candidates are Sunny Singh from Port Augusta and Simratpal Singh Malhi from Chaffey electorate.
Port Augusta City Council nominee Sunny Singh, the owner of a taxi company, has won the election in the City of Port Augusta by achieving the most 753 votes.
Sunny Singh has been living in Port Augusta for last ten years. Working as Transport Manager at Des’s Cabs for the last 7 years, he believes he has seen community’s concerns in our town at ground level. He is a representative of Port Augusta Alcohol Management Group and have provided valuable contribution for the betterment of the community.
Sunny aims to improve the safety and security of the community. I will work towards the betterment of the facilities, roads, overall appearance of our town and events for the younger generation. He is also the chairperson of Singh XI social club and have organised community events in the past. He is currently living with my wife and son.
Simratpal Singh Malhi aka Sim Singh Malhi has lived in the Riverland since he was a child and wants to be a powerful voice for the Chaffey electorate of South Australia. He wants to be an advocate for better health care and education in the region. His family owned a convenience store in Renmark where he works, as well as a family grape and vegetable farm. He is currently studying pharmaceutical science at UniSA.
