A third primary school in Melbourne has closed after a student tested positive to COVID-19.
Strathmore Primary School, in the city’s inner-north, will be closed on Tuesday to undergo a deep clean.
The school is the third to close in just two days and the student is the fifth in the state to test positive for the virus.
On Monday, Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton confirmed a jump of 12 new cases, bringing the total to 1732 in the state.
Seven of the cases are linked to a family outbreak spread across four homes in Coburg, Broadmeadows and Pakenham, which closed two other schools.
St Dominic’s School in Broadmeadows has been closed from Monday for at least three days and Pakenham Springs Primary School is also undergoing a deep clean.
Sutton also confirmed a young woman who protested at the Black Lives Matter rally in Melbourne tested positive and is unrelated to the first case.
