Tension gripped Jodhpur village today when a ‘bir’ of Guru Granth Sahib caught fire at the village gurdwara under strange circumstances.
A clash between followers of Dera Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan and members of Sikh organisations had erupted at the village on October 28 over the holding of a religious congregation.Sikh organisations blamed dera followers for the sacrilege.
Sensing trouble, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bakhtawar Singh reached the village along with a heavy police force. The Sadar police station has registered a case against unknown person for the blasphemous act. Gurdwara granthi Wazir Singh said he saw smoke billowing out of the gurdwara when he returned from a religious function this afternoon. The ADC said the matterwas being investigated.
