Sydney Sikhs Run for the charity City2Surf Race

Sydney, 13 August 2013 – Among the 80,000 running and walking the HeraldSun City2Surf 2013 event in Sydney yesterday was a group of around 30 Sikhs, who participated in such an even for the first time in Sydney. Amongst the team, there were youngsters, females, kids and old adults as well who joined the race in colorful turbans.

The race is run from Sydney city centre to Bondi Beach. All said it had been a great day and a great location and it was wonderful to be part of such a race while promoting Sikh Community and identity among other fellow Australians. This race was sponsored by Australian Sikh Association.

Also to mention, another similar participation by about 100 sikhs were done couple of months back in Melbourne Charity Race where the World’s oldest marathon runner Baba Fauja Singh had also joined them. Sikh Community in Australia is looking forward to participate in such events in future as well so as to promote thier identity and sikhism.
