After Sydney, Now Hundereds of Sikhs gather in Melbourne to protest against Modi

Melbourne – Today hundreds of Sikhs from all around Melbourne staged a protest outside Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) against Indian Prime Minister Narendra modi.

The purpose of the protest by the Sikh Diaspora were to raise their Freedom of Speech & Expression against the human rights violations and in-discrimination happening to Minorities in India. The member of the Sikh community felt that the plight of religious minorities in India has not improved, actually it has worsened. Modi’s links with hardline Hindu groups, especially the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS, continue to worry many from religious minorities in India.

The demonstrators carrying posters and banners had slogans against Modi. Slogans on placards, banners and posters read ‘Modi India’s Prime Murderer’, ‘Ban RSS’, “Genocide is not a development, Modi Go Back” and more like this. The protesters were also shouting slogans “Modi Killer, Shame Shame.”
