Living by the concept of “Humanity Above All”, Sikhs lately responded to the ‘unnatural route’ induced crisis across various cities in India where Kashmiri students and residents have come under attack.
After stranded Kashmiri passengers who were putting up in Jammu’s Auqaf building were pelted with stones by some students in Jammu, the community of Sikhs rose above religion and caste, by setting up free kitchens and accommodation in Gurudwaras for stranded Kashmiris on the National Highway.

Sikhs of Jammu posted the addresses of the Gurudwaras where Langars were set up on social networking websites and are receiving tremendous appreciation from the valley.
“Dear all Kashmiris, especially Muslim brothers and sisters, who are stuck in Jammu Bus Stand due to closure of Jammu Sringar National Highway are requested to go to any Gurudwara in Jammu nearby Chand Kour, BC Road, Nanak Nagar and Digiana Ashram,” posted Bhupinder Singh Sodhi.
“The Sikhs have made it easy, like always. They make us believe that humanity exists. We had no food or money left with us. We were suffering and they arranged a Langar just 20 minutes from here,” one stranded Kashmiri said.
Inside the Gurudwara, some tractors have been put on stand. Wazir says they’ll be soon transporting food to different places in Jammu, for stranded Kashmiri passengers.

As the news of this safe shelter has spread among the Kashmiri community, more and more students are trying to reach Mohali. Jammu and Kashmir Students Organisation, working in tandem with a local gurudwara, has placed all the students in the safe havens of that gurudwara, where they are being provided with the basic necessities.
Khalsa Aid comes to the rescue of stranded Kashmiri Students
With fear hanging in the air over Kashmiri students being targeted in Dehradun following the Pulwama terror attack on Thursday, Khalsa Aid International is reaching out to the distressed students and offering them transportation, food and accommodation.
Khalsa Aid is helping bring all the stranded students here, the count more than 180 as per the latest reports. The organization is arranging transportation for them, free of cost, and is also trying to arrange their return home.
